Description

Nadja originated in La Spezia and the name means “hope” in Russian. Active since 1980, their sound was rooted in English dark wave, however it was interpreted in an original way. In 1984 they produced their first demo cassette “La Joie”, which entered the annual Reader’s Poll of Rockerilla magazine. After an extensive series of contributions to different thematic compilations, always on cassette and attached to various fanzines, at the beginning of 1985 it was time fortheir second tape, “Eros”, and for the vinyl anthology “CODE” with three other groups in the same area of La Spezia. Many concerts followed including those in support of the Cocteau Twins and Virgin Prunes. Following renewed interest in Italian wave of the 1980s Nadja appeared on the 2009 Spittle compilation “Crollo Nervoso” and their first tape is now released for the first time on vinyl here by Onde Italiane. Limited and numbered to 300.
