While certainly appealing to fans of bands such as Heaven Shall Burn and Caliban, Misery Speaks have absorbed more than just metalcore into their musical concoction. Never touching the brake pedal, they rip and tear at the listener for close to 50 minutes. Their eponymous official label debut is a brutal yet melodic assault where Gothenburg melodeath meets the more modern edged thrash sound of The Haunted and vibrant metalcore. As if the Swedish influences weren’t enough their debut was also mixed by the living legend Dan Swanö at his re-opened Unisound studio in Örebro. It is a very dynamic and intense album and its pure energy will most likely appeal to a wide variety of metal fans. Misery Speaks display a mature and solid exterior with a sharp edge. Having already shared stages with bands like Napalm Death, Aborted, Entombed, Vader and God Dethroned it is now time for these guys to conquer the world on their own.
