Description
*Harto de todo* is an oral history of the punk eruption in the city of Barcelona between 1979 and 1987, and it gathers the personal experience of a number of pioneers who lived through the start and evolution of this community. Harto de todo is full of confessions from the first punk and hardcore groups in Barcelona, but also from those involved in fanzines, free radio stations, the first self-managed shops or premises, or simply the street heroes who took the brave step of declaring themselves punks in the grey Spain of 1979. Through the honest and passionate testimony of all these explorers we discover their discoveries: their first contact with punk rock; how they fused the native rage with the precepts of an English youth movement, adapting their aesthetics and ideology to the everyday feeling of our protagonists; the birth of Do It Yourself (or self-management); the connection with other similar snipers from around the world and the creation of an international information network; the role of drugs (heroin and speed); the first occupations of buildings; the progressive political awareness of the punks and their musical, aesthetic and ideological evolution towards hardcore (and the role played by the visit of the Americans MDC), the appearance of the skinheads and their subsequent bifurcation into two opposing political branches, etc. And, above all this, the music: fierce, fast, intense, furious, made by them and for them.
*Harto de todo* is, for all this, a vital document that records for the first time in a serious and truthful way the emergence and history of Catalan punk and hardcore. Written with obvious love and brimming with detail, packed with spectacular archival visual material and written with disarming sincerity, this is a work of comparable importance to foreign zeniths of the genre such as Por favor mátame (an oral history of punk), Banned in DC, From the Velvets to the Voidoids or Hardcore California, and cannot be missing from the bibliography of any scholar/fan of the genre.
It includes unreleased material from Último Resorte, Frenopaticss, Attak, Shit S.A., Kangrena, Decibelios, Sentido Común, GRB, L’Odi Social, Subterranean Kids, Anti/Dogmatikss, Skatalà, HHH, Monstruación, Informe, Radio Pica, Kafe Volter, fanzines, press clippings, photos, posters, flyers, tickets, discography, etc. 642 pages!
