This one-sided, six-track effort certainly lives up to the expectations: desperate, strangulated ululations and pounding slabs of ugly/beautiful noise that shimmer and churn in a manner infrequently seen in this day and age. Key comparisons remain the likes of Unwound and the Crownhate Ruin, while the inclusion of a Quicksand cover (‘Head To Wall’) serves as another solid point of reference for the band’s bright-edged but ominous sound. Standouts are the bruised and brooding likes of Untitleds 11 and 12, the sense of space and repetition providing a perfect foil for both tracks’ more ambitious vocal explorations and serving as an exciting if all-too-brief hint of where things could be heading next for this shamefully underrated act.
